Evaluation of Reservoir Quality and Forecasted Production Variability along a Multi-Fractured Horizontal Well. Part 1: Reservoir Characterization

چکیده

Completion design for horizontal wells is typically performed using a geometric approach where the fracturing stages are evenly distributed along lateral length of well. However, this ignores intrinsic vertical and heterogeneity unconventional reservoirs, resulting in uneven production from hydraulic stages. An alternative to selectively complete intervals with similar superior reservoir quality (RQ) completion (CQ), potentially leading improved development efficiency. In current study, along-well characterization data well completed Montney Formation western Canada. Log-derived petrophysical geomechanical properties, laboratory analyses on drill cuttings, integrated purpose evaluating RQ CQ variability For RQ, cutoffs were applied porosity (>4%), permeability (>0.0018 mD), water saturation (<20%), whereas, CQ, rock strength (<160 Mpa), Young’s Modulus (60–65 GPa), Poisson’s ratio (<0.26). Based observed can be subdivided into nine segments. Superior found associated predominantly (massive) porous siltstone facies; these regarded as primary targets stimulation. contrast, relatively inferior either dolomite-cemented facies or laminated siltstones. The methods developed used study could beneficial operators who aim better predict target sweet spots wells; also other plays.

A Framework for Multi-reservoir Production Optimization

When a large oil or gas field is produced, several reservoirs often share the same processing facility. This facility is typically capable of processing only a limited amount of commodities per unit of time. In order to satisfy these processing limitations, the production needs to be choked, i.e., scaled down by a suitable choke factor. A production strategy is defined as a vector valued functi...

SPE 154339 Reservoir Characterization of an Unconventional Reservoir by Integrating Microseismic, Seismic, and Well Log Data

Varied data types including geophysical data as well as well logs have been used frequently in the past to characterize reservoirs. However, the use of microseismic data as a potential source of useful information and its integration with conventional seismic data for reservoir characterization is an area of opportunity where properties predicted from the microseismic data can be used as a vita...

Reservoir Characterization Constrained to Well-Test Data: A Field Example

In this paper we present a method to integrate well test, production, shut-in pressure, log, core, and geological data to obtain a reservoir description for the Pagerungan field, offshore Indonesia. The method computes spatial distributions of permeability and porosity and generates a pressure response for comparison to field data. This technique produced a good match with well-test data from t...

Estimating Reservoir Properties and Well Performance Using Surface Production Data

Reliable and sufficient welltest data is necessary for the evaluation of reservoir properties and well performance. Best results a r e usually obtained by monitoring downhole pressure and flow rate continuously during a transient test. However, a recurring problem for geothermal welltests has been the failure of the downhole pressure instrument in the high temperatures and hostile environments,...
